Description
Antique set of Froebel's building blocks, believed to date from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The original box is nicely made (of pine?) with finger joints at the connecting edges. The slide lid has split in two and has a narrow strip missing from where the two parts meet, but has a nice picture with 'Froebel's Bauschule' ('construction school') printed within it. There are 88 of the original wooden blocks within the box, plus another 8 that are either painted or have traces of colour. I suspect some of the 8 are much later replacements. Box measures approx 26 x 22 x 7cm. Rare and interesting set.
